Emission Warranties

Trucking Employment and Requirements

Millions of citizens in the United States of America are employed as professional truck drivers, and their work should never be underappreciated. Both locally and internationally produced materials need safe and efficient delivery. Trucking is a multi-billion dollar industry and is essential to business, corporations, and offices of any type to function smoothly.

Emission warranties are issued to all truck drivers. The two major types are the Performance Warranty and the Design and Defect Warranty. The stated goal of these warranties is to protect against damage from fuel emission into the environment, but the plans themselves are enforced wrongly and unnecessarily. Federal law requires drivers to spend thousands of dollars annually on emission warranty plans. The warranty would cover repairs for trucks that function improperly within the first five years or within the first 50,000 miles of vehicle use, or have unexpected or unexplained defects.

Negative Effects of Emission Warranties

Though the goal may be presented as protection for truck drivers themselves, it actually has the opposite effect. Warranties cost thousands of dollars that are typically paid out of pocket. For the majority of the time, emission risks do not occur at all with new vehicles, resulting in unnecessary spending that is not being used at all.

Exact prices for these warranties can vary greatly. Some states such as New York, California, and New Jersey have their own requirements for emissions warranties that are also shaped by the model, age, and engine of the vehicle. However, no matter the state or type of car, the prices of warranties are typically tens of thousands of dollars.

Manufacturers enforce emission warranties to ultimately benefit themselves and save more money. The goal is to save their personal finances by taking money from others. If something went wrong with a truck, they recognize that their costs would be astronomical, but they solve this problem at the expense of the drivers.

Work for a Difference

Truck drivers are some of the hardest working people in the United States. Their hours are long, unpredictable, and often thankless. Rather than forcing drivers to spend even more money on services that may be unnecessary, manufacturers should focus on covering these costs themselves as needed.

This problem needs to be addressed and stopped. We need to stand against costly and overrated emission warranties that negatively affect important members of our society. Rather than being forced to pay more, truck drivers should take a stand against emission warranties and fight for freedom from unnecessary costs the warranties present.
